My friend Mike Edel dropped a new song today called "Hello Universe." The accompanying video was shot in Morocco just before the pandemic shut the borders down and it features a GE 3-5286A boom box....which reminded me of a Buck 65 performance from 2011 which also featured a boom box and a song titled "Cold Steel Drum".... which reminded me of an insanely dirty beat Listener banged out of a cold steel washing machine back in 2009 on their track "Ozark Empire, or a snake oil salesman comes to your town"...who's opening line welcoming "all you suckers to Struggleville" made me think of Arcade Fire's 2010 hit, "The Suburbs"...which was engineered by one Marcus Paquin....who mixed Mike Edel's "Hello Universe."
